Thelma
JOYE releases her first EP 'Thelma', a renaissance, an electro ode to speech and emotion. She deconstructs the journey of a woman who has always been asked to remain polite, distressed, and reasonable. Directly inspired by the character of Thelma from Riddley Scott's movie 'Thelma and Louise' (1991), she ends up being reborn, establishing her fury and shouting her presence. JOYE also summons the "wild women" from the book Women who run with the wolves (by Clarissa Pinkola Estés), so dear to her identity. She found these references in her models: FKA Twigs, Sevdaliza, Lana del Rey, and Amy Winehouse. Artists to whom she owes her incandescent, deep and ethereal voice.
With its soft opening and powerful rise, "Social Slavery" is intended as an electric shock. This awakening leads JOYE to free herself from her "mental chains" following a romantic encounter. Cradled by an electro that is both explosive and sophisticated, "True Nature" then leads her to reveal herself fully to the other as much as to herself. This unprecedented renaissance encompasses his thoughts, in which we immerse ourselves in "Naturally Beautifull" by superimposing jerky dreams. An interlude in which she (re)finds her beauty, and gets rid of the old JOYE, before understanding her own values. Thanks to this heavy lull that is "Freedom was easier before", the completion of his mutation takes place through a now perpetual quest for freedom. JOYE concludes its metamorphosis with "Human Love", a rhythmic electro-pop manifesto where no guide operates better in love than oneself.
